Metropolis (Atlanta, GA) $290Atlanta, Georgia has one of the highest populations of people who are chronically homeless in the nation. Participants will learn about urban homelessness firsthand by spending a week befriending and serving the homeless in downtown Atlanta. Participants will work with a variety of organizations with different approaches to serving Atlanta’s homeless. They will also spend time walking the city streets and learning first hand from those who live daily the harsh reality of life without a home. The week will culminate with an urban plunge where participants will spend 24 hours homeless on the streets of Atlanta.
On the Waterfront (Charleston, SC) $290Nearly one billion people in the world are currently living without clean water causing 5,500 deaths every day. There is a global water crisis. Participants will get to be a part of saving lives and transforming communities by working at the headquarters of Water Missions International. At the headquarters participants will spend their time assembling water treatment systems and parts as well as other manual labor tasks to support Water Missions.
Into the Wild (Everglades, FL) $320Not only one of the most beautiful ecosystems in our country, but also one of the most fragile, the Everglades support rare and endangered species that exist nowhere else in the world. Despite being protected, this environment and its wildlife are faltering from human impact and the ever-encroaching civilization which has pushed the Everglades to the tip of Florida, edging out wetlands which used to cover half of the state. The Everglades are the remaining 1.6 million acres of wilderness at the southern end of Florida with nine distinct habitats. Participants on this site will focus on conservation education and environmental service, which may include aquatic and terrestrial restoration, seabird rescue, mangrove planting, working in a recycling center, and coral reef preservation.
Beasts of the Southern Wild (Hubert, NC) $360At the Possumwood Acres Wildlife Restoration Sanctuary, participants can expect a hands-on experience that will address the needs of animals that have arrived at the facility due to being in conflicts with humans, being attacked by cats and dogs, or being separated from their parents. Site participants will provide basic rehabilitative care and medical treatments for the current wildlife patients and participate in environmental education and awareness programs.
Unconditional Love (Little Rock, AR) $310In order to enhance, sustain and restore the health and development of children, Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH) provides clinical services, teaching, and research. ACH is committed to achieve high quality, cost-effective, fully accessible services for Arkansas' children, without regard to race, religion, or inability to pay. Volunteers will be working in different settings in both group and individual projects. Activities will include organizing donations, preparing holiday gifts for patients, working in clerical areas, grounds work, crafts/activities for patients in outpatient clinics, hosting a party for our inpatients, and other urgent needs.
Ferngully (Patillas, PR) $975Spend a week in the Carite State Rainforest of Puerto Rico! Tropic Ventures is a research and education foundation working to conserve the rainforest of Puerto Rico through ecological investigation and conservation efforts. Students will learn about sustainability by working hands-on in the rainforest with Tropic Ventures.

(Springfield, MO) $280On this site, participants will primarily volunteer with Art Inspired, an organization that provides employment opportunities and art, dance, music, and theater classes for persons with developmental disabilities. Participants will also conduct service with Champion Athletes of the Ozarks, an organization that provides sports training to children and adults with disabilities.

Spanglish (Brownsville, TX) $340Millions of people immigrate to the United States each year looking for opportunity, family, or to flee political and social unrest. Many of these people are either too poor or uneducated to go through a complex naturalization process, and they end up in poverty on one side of the border or the other. Participants on this site will have the opportunity to truly make a difference in these peoples’ lives. La Esperanza, a home for young boys detained at the border, is an incredible organization devoted to providing these children with the help they need until they are placed back with their families. Participants will work directly with these boys both in and out of the classroom, teaching English, math, and basic sciences. Additionally, they will work with Brownsville Youth Build to provide affordable housing and basic education for troubled youth.
Being There (Dallas, TX) $300The mission of Bryan’s House is to respond to the needs of children and their families who are impacted by critical illnesses. By providing medically-managed child care, adolescent programming, and community-based, family-centered support-services, this organization aims to alleviate suffering through a holistic healthcare approach. Participants will help plan activities and assist staff with the execution of programs.
Good Will Hunting (Huntsville, AL) $290Experience a week you will never forget in Huntsville! A city most commonly known as the home of NASA, Huntsville is also home to Lincoln Village, a once overlooked and struggling community. Lincoln Village Ministries seeks to impact this community through many different avenues, and during the week students will serve in various ways to help break the cycle of poverty in the area. Since 2002, volunteers have come from across the country to Lincoln Village to help rebuild the community by renovating homes, tutoring children, weeding gardens, and working at food banks. As an all-encompassing site of service, Huntsville will serve as an eye-opening experience for all of those who are willing to learn from their surroundings.
Beautiful People (Kissimmee, FL) $325Since 1989 Give Kids the World Village has been providing children with life threatening illnesses and their families a cost free, weeklong trip to all of the theme parks in central Florida. This whimsical village is fully handicap accessible and allows children a chance to forget about their illness and enjoy being a kid. A child is never turned away, and the village has provided a week of fun to over 115,000 children. To make this dream-come-true possible, 1,200 shifts are covered every week by volunteer “angels.” Volunteers will work in a variety of settings, both behind the scenes and directly with families.
Make Way for Tomorrow (New Orleans, LA) $325Welcome to the historic city of New Orleans! Here, we will focus on post-Katrina community development and the social justice issues surrounding the city's ongoing reconstruction. Students will be working with an organization started by a Tulane medical student, Phoenix of New Orleans, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the recovery of the residents of the Lower Mid-City neighborhood of New Orleans. PNOLA provides direct assistance and develops community assets that ensure a vital neighborhood. Volunteers will not only have the chance to help a family with our hands, but to also hear accounts of personal experiences since Katrina.
Places in the Heart (Tahlequah, OK) TBDThe Cherokee Nation Head Start and Early Head Start programs are based on the premise that six weeks to five year old children from income eligible families can benefit from a social and educational program. The overall goal of Head Start and Early Head Start is to bring about a greater degree of social competence in children who may be economically or educationally disadvantaged. Volunteers will develop and assist in educational activities, e.g. making books and board games and helping teachers in the classroom.
